ICT: Bridging Communication in Digital Age
Communicating in the Digital Age
We live in a time where communication is faster, wider, and more interactive than ever before, thanks to Information and Communication Technology (ICT). These digital tools have completely transformed how we stay connected. Days of waiting for a letter or relying only on landline calls are gone. Now, with just a few taps, we can send instant messages, join video calls or connect with people across the globe in real-time. Whether it’s a casual chat or a formal meeting, communicative ICT tools has made it easier to share ideas and stay in touch, no matter the distance.
Personally, I rely a lot on digital tools to stay connected with friends and family. Apps like Messenger, they are not just apps, they feel like little gathering spots where I can share a funny meme, drop a voice note, react to a post or just check in on someone I care about. Sometimes, it is as simple as reacting to a shared memory or sending a quick “how have you been” message. Other times, it’s a spontaneous video call with an old friend that turns my whole day around.
Sharing of pictures with loved ones and then keeping in contact with my parents on daily basis through the app and being able to keep in contact with my primary classmates which feels like a reunion after 8 years.
When it comes to academics and work, it is also important. I use Messenger as a valuable tool for both academic and official purposes. For my academics, I mainly use it to stay connected with my classmates through chats which allows us to exchange notes, discuss assignments and remind each other about important deadlines. It makes learning more convenient, especially when we are working on the same topic but are in different places. Messenger helps us clarify doubts quickly and stay updated with class-related information. For official purposes, I am part of formal group chats that are used for planning events, organizing meetings and coordinating with people both locally and from different parts of the country. These group chats make it easier to communicate efficiently and share ideas with a broader network.
Sharing of notes through the app and creating official group chats which helps to communicate easily and it enables us to share important documents too.
Conclusions
Despite the challenges, communicative ICT tools have become an important part of how we live, learn, and connect. They’ve helped us build bridges between people, ideas, and cultures. But like any tool, they need to be used with care. It's important to find a balance between screen time and real-world interaction, and to always use these platforms with kindness, respect, and awareness. When used thoughtfully, these tools don’t just help us communicate they help us grow as individuals and as global citizens.
